7.29 Prefectural Update

In the last couple of prefectures, we're quickly approaching the finals...

Shizuoka
In the first quarterfinal held yesterday, Seisei Kougyou's Oi throws a 3-hit, 11 K shutout to defeat Fujieda Meisei 3-0 and end their dream of going to their 1st Koshien.

Meanwhile, in the matinee game, Tokoha Tachibana's Shouji throws a 2-hitter striking out 10. But they were behind 1-0 to Kakegawa Nishi going into the late innings. Tokoha Tachibana fixed that with a 6-run 7th inning against Ozaki. They advance into the semis with a 6-1 win.

Osaka
In the only game of the day at Maidzuru PL Gakuen, aided by homeruns from CF Yoshikawa and a pinch-hit grand slam by Hiu, sends Ikuno Kougyou packing with a 12-1 win

Hiroshima
Jyousuikan took a 2-0 lead into the late innings against Sanyou. But then 2 runs in the top of the 8th tie the game! It goes into extras, but not for long as Jyousuikan plates the sayonara run in the 10th to advance to tomorrow's final.

Their opponent in the finals will be Kouryou. They score a run in the 2nd and 4th to take a 2-0 lead. Hiroshima Kougyou's ace Kawano tries to make up for it by hitting a homerun in the 5th inning drawing them within 1, but behind Arihara's 12 K's, Kouryou shuts down Hiroshima Shougyou to advance.
